The Office on Fathers, Men, and Boys (MOFMB) was established as a result of the passage of the 2014 DC Council legislation. This bill represents a culmination of community advocacy, which highlights the social needs of fathers, men, and boys in the District of Columbia and the system’s needed response from leaders, organizations, and services that are in place to support them.
The mission of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Office on Fathers, Men and Boys is to address the disparities that adversely impact men and boys of color in the District of Columbia. The Commission’s role is to ensure that through advocacy, community engagement and information sharing; a solution-oriented approach is developed that addresses the issues of fatherlessness, educational disparities, economic opportunity, health and well-being as well as public safety.
CFMB believes that men and boys of color should be empowered for greatness and have access to abundant opportunities and policy that represents their growth and achievement. We believe that every father should feel supported by their community and equipped with the knowledge and resources to support their families.
